Anyone who works with bar code identification applications wants top perfor-mance without compromise. However, when it comes to implementing the app-lications, everyone has their own special requirements. That's why all types of equipment features are needed for bar code readers, from connection technology to optics. With the new modular BCL 300i series from Leuze electronic, users can perform the exact configuration desired without having to make compromises.
Leuze electronic calls the new flexible way of configuring products "individual sensor solutions". This means modular device concepts that give the users the option of selecting the perfect equipment features for their applications. The goal is to create a streamlined product that corresponds exactly to the requirements demanded – no more and no less. With the new bar code readers from the BCL 300i series, application-oriented alignment starts with the setting of the general performance characteristics. Based on the technology of the tried and tested BCL 500i series, which is used for ranges of up to two meters, the new BCL 300i series covers applications with ranges of up to 700 millimeters.
This "customization" can be seen first of all in the compact construction which allows for placement directly on the transport system. Furthermore, the high-quality optics facilitate a large depth of field and wide opening angle for reliable detection, even with wide transport systems. Since neither the focus nor the scanning rate have to be adjusted, the devices are very easy to use.
The full CRT (code reconstruction technology) adds to the already impressive perfor-mance of the BCL 300i. It can even detect highly damaged or soiled codes reliably. For fine-tuning the bar code readers to a particular reading field, meaning the range and resolution required, four optics models (high, medium, low and ultra low density) are available. In addition to the front beam exit, deflection mirror or oscillating mirror variants improve application flexibility. And of course, you can choose between heatable and non-heatable optics.
The BCL 300i sets new benchmarks in modularity concerning connection technology as well, for which suitable connection hoods can be selected as required. They are available with M12 connector or – a new feature in this series – with connection ter-minals for direct connection. Moreover, they feature a connection hood with open cable end as well as a connection hood with a connection cable to an external terminal box. These modular variants make it possible to adapt the electrical contacting to individual requirements.
The data output also has a modular design. For the purposes of visual representation, graphic display with LEDs can round out the order. The i in the type designation of the BCL 300i symbolizes the ease with which the device can be connected to the control. It stands for integrated fieldbus connectivity and features direct system integration and configuration in the control without additional software thanks to a variety of fieldbus interfaces available for delivery.
The device can also function as an Ethernet switch to create a linearly structured net-work. If the BCL 300i is not used in a fieldbus, the integrated webConfig configuration software guarantees that the user can select any functions that the device offers. The browser-based tool, independent from the operating system, enables setting directly via the Ethernet.
